  • Fishing Report

    Fishing Report Updated: 11/2/2011

All walleye & sauger fishing on Lake Wisconsin has begun. There are a lot of fish to be caught out there, unfortunately, many of them fall just short of the 15" minimum size limit. On average, one out of seven or eight fish are of legal size with the rest falling short. The good news is that it's common to catch more than 30 fish on any given day.
As the water cools, I do expect the percentage of legal fish vs small fish to get a bit better but for now, this is the way it is. I also expect that we will see more & more large fish show up in our catch as the water
cools. Plain jigs tipped with large fathead minnows or hair jigs tipped with fathead minnows has been working best for us the last couple of trips out on the lake. Best depths to target are between 18-22' of water.

Don't put your boat away just yet as some pretty open water walleye fishing can be had before ice covers the lakes.
